The National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), a non-profit organization, dedicates its work to enhancing school safety through high-quality training for school-based law enforcement officers. Founded in 1991, and a global leader in school-based policing, NASRO collaborates with school administrators, security professionals, and law enforcement officers to protect students, faculty, and staff. NASRO’s “triad” concept emphasizes the roles of SROs as teachers, informal counselors, and law enforcement officers, promoting positive interactions and fostering a safe environment in schools. With over 3,000 members worldwide, NASRO supports communities and school districts in developing effective programs for safer schools and stronger community partnerships.

According to NASRO’s website, “SRO programs across the globe are founded as collaborative efforts by police agencies, law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and communities. The goal of NASRO and SRO programs is to provide safe learning environments, provide valuable resources to school staff members, foster a positive relationship with students and develop strategies to resolve problems that affect our youth with the goal of protecting all children, so they can reach their fullest potential.”
