Crisis Intervention Overview title slideThe Portal offers several courses and resources developed by our Learning Partners that you may be interested in exploring, including Crisis Intervention: Overview of Effective Models, an eLearning course developed by the National Center for Policing Innovation (NCPI) that is ideal for those interested in exploring a collaborative, structured, and coordinated response to addressing the rise in mental health crisis. NCPI also provides companion resources to this course: Crisis Intervention First Look: Focused Response for Veterans, Crisis Intervention First Look: Focused Response for Youth, and Innovations in Crisis Response: What CIT Programs Need to Know e-Guide.  The eLearning course Introduction to Public Safety De-escalation Tactics for Military Veterans in Crisis, developed by the UT Law Enforcement Innovation Center enhances the skills and capabilities of law enforcement officers and relevant first responders when encountering critical incidents involving veterans who may be in crisis. The Call: Serving Those with Behavioral and Cognitive Disabilities, developed by WILL Interactive provides all law enforcement professionals, from new officers to seasoned veterans, best practice recommendations from leading experts in the field of mental health awareness and response.

Changing Outcomes by Connecting the Dots

You may be interested in Introduction to the Non-Confrontational Investigative Interviewing Approach, an eLearning course developed by the UT Law Enforcement Innovation Center (LEIC). This course compares confrontational and non-confrontational interviews, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each approach. Real case examples and studies provide evidence of the success investigators experience through establishing rapport and interviewing with an open mind.

You may be interested in Drug Endangered Children (DEC): Overview, an eLearning course developed by the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (DEC). This course provides a basic understanding of the risks of parental or caregiver substance abuse and drug activity to children, helping law enforcement officers and other public safety practitioners develop strategies to meet the needs of drug endangered children.
